Choosing a wide-format printer
A wide-format roll printer is the machine behind banners, vehicle wraps, posters, window graphics and wallpaper. Media up to 72 or 78 inches wide feeds from a roll, prints, and is taken up on the far side, ready to laminate, cut and install.
Ink decides the work. Eco-solvent ink bites into vinyl and banner material, stretches over vehicle curves and costs the least per square foot; heaters dry it as it prints. UV ink cures the instant it lands, with no drying wait and no solvent smell, which suits indoor graphics and backlit film. Some machines take either, chosen when you order.
Head count and width decide output. One Epson i3200 head suits a sign shop's daily work; two heads and a two-roll setup double what leaves the shop in a day. Check the speed at the pass count you will actually sell at, not the draft figure.
